A Live Music Series

Showcasing talent in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and beyond

Detro Ali

March 2025

A recent Wake Forest graduate, Detro Ali’s soulful and complex runs will impress you. Along with some originals from his most recent project, he covers Yebba and SWV.

Ears to the Ground

February 2025

Ears to the Ground is a 5-piecer cover band and they’re just plain fun. The enthusiasm and vibrancy you feel as they perform make it impossible to stay in your seat. Many of the band member are teachers representing local schools and they’re all talented and so musically inclined that watching them is  almost as fun as listening.

Muze

January 2025

MUZE is a self-taught musician and teacher. It’s clear that he enjoys sharing his talent but his real passion is in sharing those skills through education. Here he covers Frankie Beverly’s “Joy and Pain”.

Emanuel Wynter

December 2024

Emmanuel and his bandmates have this amazing chemistry. They make musical decisions on the fly in a fun way that makes you feel like there’s some fantastic joke that you’re in on, all while enjoying their immense talent. Here they cover MGMT and accidentally transition into Fleetwood Mac.

Matt Sickels

November 2024

It was such a great change of pace to listen to Matt Sickels play. He is so talented at capturing so many parts simultenously. I can’t get over it. Matt covered Frankie Valli, the Cardigans, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson.

William Nesmith

October 2024

William Nesmith is a great pianist and has a lot of great insights about the music industry. He also has an MBA and I think that’s pretty neat. The variety in his sound makes him captivating and his energy as a performer is just plain fun. He covers “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus and adds a little medley in there.

Mike Coia

September 2024

A conversation with Mike will calm the busy in your mind. It’s just something about his demeanor. And listening to his songs makes you feel like he’s handing you a page he ripped a page out of his diary. He’s alternative rock meets indie pop and this session he covers “Bigger Than My Body” by John Mayer along with his original music.

Anna Mertson

August 2024

The way Anna tells stories through song feels easy. The phrase “sweet songbird” comes to mind but the bluesy edge she incorporates really gives you a chance to connect with her message. Whether it’s love or loss, you’re gonna feel it.  This session she covers “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac in addition to performing her original music.

Dawson James

July 2024

Dawson is a little bit country and a little bit Americana. The quiet intensity of his voice will grip you. This session he covers Tyler Childers along with some original music.

Justin Cohen

June 2024

This dude’s vocals are so soulful and rich, it’ll give you chills.  A Berklee College of Music graduate, Justin used this session to cover Chris Stapleton along with 3 originals.

Barefoot Modern

May 2024

You will be hard pressed to find a more endearing and sweet couple making equally delightful music—think alternative/indie. Newlyweds hailing from Boone, Teagan and Robert graced us with original music, some from an upcoming album.
